Commission on Accreditation

Larry J. McKinney serves in a part-time capacity as a Commission Staff Representative for the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education. The Commission Staff Representative conducts individual consultations and also accompanies evaluation teams on their visits to institutions that are being reviewed for candidate status, initial accreditation, or reaffirmation of accreditation with the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

The Commission on Accreditation strives to be consistent in its interpretation and expectations regarding the standards and policies.  The Commission Staff Representative serves as a resource to the team members relative to the interpretation and implementation of standards and policies.

He also works independently with developing institutions who may need support in progressing through the ABHE accreditation process that includes applicant status, candidate status, and initial accreditation.  Accreditation is a higher education journey that focuses on quality assurance and quality advancement.

The Association for Biblical Higher Education is a North American agency, comprised of approximately 200 postsecondary institutions from Canada and the United States, specializing in biblical ministry formation and professional leadership education. ABHE exists to enhance the quality and credibility of postsecondary educational institutions that engage students in biblical, transformational, experiential, and missional higher education.

Accreditation is a process by which an institution evaluates its educational activities, in whole or in part, and seeks an independent judgment to confirm that it achieves its mission and goals and is generally equal in quality to comparable institutions or specialized units.
